Claude Sonnet 5.5, Kimi K2.8 and MiMo V2.6 are here — plus image editing and more video models

Another big update for Vani. Here's what's new since our last post.

New models: Claude Sonnet 5.5, Kimi K2.8 and MiMo V2.6

• Claude Sonnet 5.5 from Anthropic. We promised it last time, and it's here.
• Kimi K2.8 Preview from Moonshot AI.
• MiMo V2.6 Pro and MiMo V2.6 Flash from Xiaomi.

All of them are available in Vani Chat on every plan, including Free, and on the Vani API.

Image editing and more image and video models

• Edit images: upload a photo and ask for changes, or ask Vani to change an image it made for you.
• Bring images to life: turn an image into a short video, or ask for changes to a video.
• More models: new image models including GPT Image 2.5, Grok Imagine Image 2 and Seedream 4.0, and new video models including Seedance 2.0, Seedance 2.5 and Grok Imagine Video 1.5.
• A cleaner look: images and videos now appear in a cleaner view in chat, showing how many generations you have left.

Bigger uploads, with previews

Attach images and documents up to 95 MB on paid plans (25 MB on Free), and see a preview right in the conversation.

Try Vani without an account

Anyone can now chat on c.vani.ai without signing up, using GPT-6.1 Sol, GPT-6 Luna and GLM-5.3 Derisked. When the free guest allowance runs out, a free account keeps the conversation going and adds image and video generation.

For developers

• Image and video generation on the API: /v1/images/generations, /v1/images/edits and /v1/videos, paid from your prepaid API balance.
• Add any amount: top up your API balance with any whole-dollar amount from $5 to $10,000.
• $5 to get started: new accounts on platform.vani.ai get $5 of API credit.
• Better compatibility with OpenAI Responses API clients, and clearer errors when a prompt is too long for a model.

A new home page and pricing page

vani.ai has a new home page, and the pricing page now shows how many tokens each plan includes, from Free to Ultra.

Fixes and improvements

• PDFs you attach are read properly again.
• Image generation no longer fails when a model picks an image size in the wrong format.
• Guest replies are no longer cut short.
• Adding funds on the API platform works reliably again.
• Updates to Vani no longer interrupt API requests that are in progress.
